Here's the dress I designed for Lucy.

Anna's dress is a Vogue Pattern.  It was so cute that I made it exactly like the pattern.    I did modify the smocking just a bit.

Quiet Book

I made Jack a  Quiet Book for Christmas.  I looked all over for a pattern that I liked but never did find one.  So here it is.  I will try to write down instructions one of these days.  I did learn a few things through trial and error but think it turned out pretty cute.

Girls, Girls, Girls!

I am so happy to have some little girls in the family! They are fun in so many ways and I am really enjoying designing and making little dresses. Here's a dress I designed for Anna's birthday.

Ready For Spring

I hate to think about it, but spring is coming. It sounds great, but it also means PROM! At least my sewing room is ready! Here's a video.

One more thing finished!

Just finished the Roman Shades for my sewing room. They have always been my first choice for window coverings in a sewing room because they are out of the way. Click on the link above for directions!

No More Carpet!!!

New flooring went down in my sewing room last Thursday. I am slowly getting everything organized again. It is time for Homecoming dances so it could take awhile. It is wonderful not to have pins sticking up when you walk in a room. I can even go barefoot!!

new labels

My new woven labels have arrived! The first order arrived with labels for Kirsty Armstrong Designs. They looked good, but.....
some things you just can't overlook! The company was great to work with. I'd give you their web site, but they don't have one--amazing!

New Sewing Room

My sewing room has been a disaster for some time so I am in the process of redoing everything. Good news for anyone who works or has a fitting here. Bad news for me until it's finished!

Blessing Gown is Finished!

Another project is done! I made this gown using Vogue pattern #1755. I did make a few changes of course, but had a great time smocking again. Here are the pictures.

A friend just used leftover fabric from her daughter's wedding dress to make a blessing gown for her granddaughter. What a great idea!

Summer is almost over!

High School chorus dress fabric has arrived. A sure sign that school will be starting soon.

Feeling Sad

I am feeling sad today that my friend is moving. Janice has been my friend, my counselor in Relief Society, and my ball gown hemmer during prom (and she hemmed A LOT of ball gowns!). She will really be missed.

The summer is half over and I haven't completed even one project that I had planned. The stack of fun projects keeps getting bigger and I can't seem to spend any time on them.

Today I will be adding gussets to a bridesmaid dress--not from the fun project list!

Fun Projects

I know that I said having my smocking pleated was a great idea, but I couldn't wait to get started. The blessing gown for my new granddaughter is underway. I decided to do the pleating myself. I forgot how much I enjoy smocking--really any kind of hand work is very relaxing for me.

I looked all over Wichita, Provo, and Orem trying to find some fabric with ballet slippers on it. No luck. I finally ordered the perfect fabric from a place called the Virgina Quilter. Great fabric, price and quick delivery--I'll order from them again. Now to start the quilt!

Where is all the great fabric!

I was hoping to find some great fabric stores while on vacation. I'm not sure there is such a thing anymore! Very disappointing! Next stop -- online!

Vacation

I'm on vacation! I've sewn my last stitch for a week!

Prom is over!!!

Prom's are over for the year! Finally, I can get a good night's sleep!

Of course, I have a long list of projects to get started on. First, is a blessing gown for my newest granddaughter (due in August) and then a quilt for her. I have been looking all over town for smocking dots with no luck. A friend helped me locate a woman who will do the pleating for only $.25 a row. What a bargain!

My old Bernina 840 semi-industrial machine died last year. The Bernina shop said that it needed a new motor but that they weren't allowed to fix it. I've hung on to it because I really love that machine. I guess I need to start looking for a replacement.

Prom has officially begun. Time to call in reinforcements!

I've been working on a quilt for my daughter-in-law and a trench coat for myself but am not spending much time on them lately. I'll try and sneak in a few minutes here and there, but pretty much it is now Prom time!
