Favorite Dress Form?

Now that prom is over, I would love to do some draping.  Unfortunately, my dress form is in no shape to be of any help.

Here she is--Wefta  ( I was taking a weaving class at the time!)  After many years she is now wobbly, lumpy, and just plain sad.  It is really time to say good-bye and move on to something new.  So, my question to you is:  What kind of dress form do you use and do you like it?

Thanks for the help!

Macy's Birthday

Our beautiful granddaughter Macy had her first birthday today!  Here's the little outfit I made for her:

I used Burda pattern # 9802.  I made a lot of changes in the construction of the garment because I didn't care for the the methods used on the pattern instructions.

It was fun to sew something other than a prom dress!!!

Sewing on Knits

There have been a fair number of knit prom dresses this year so I've been thinking about how frustrating knits can be if you're not prepared.  My advice--Use the correct needle!  Here are the three types of needles that I use most often:

Universal Needles are used for general sewing on woven fabric.

Ball Point Needles are used for knit fabrics, jerseys, and interlocks.

Stretch Needles are used for two way stretch fabrics.

Here is a sample of a two way stretch fabric sewn first with a universal needle.  Lots of skipped stitches!

Now sewn with a stretch needle.  Beautiful even stitches!

Prom's almost over!  Can't wait to get started on some fun projects!!
